Welcome Ranger 16, the newest addition to our fleet

March 15, 2018

In keeping our promise to modernise our equipment, and improve technology, we have welcomed our latest drill rig, Ranger 16. This machine is a DRA 600-E mounted onto an all-wheel drive MAN truck.

The Ranger 16 rig is our second remote control rig. The KL rod handler and rig setup functions are remotely controlled using radio remote units via an umbilical remote-control panel to ensure that our staff are far removed from any potential fire hazards, exposures to excessive noise, dust and vibration.

The machine can be operated from the remote console at a distance of up to 10metres from the rig. The use of camera equipment allows the operator to view the rig table and ensure that the machine remains efficient in its operations.

The rig comes complete with the following features:

  • Mounted on a MAN 8×8 Truck
  • Onboard 1350/500 compressor
  • Sandvik Rod loader
  • Rod retention
  • Hands free break outs
  • Hydraulic slips table
  • Rig mounted cyclone & splitter with hydraulic raise, lower, rotate functions
  • Inline blowdown & blow-up
  • Complete with all-wheel drive support truck, crew truck & booster auxiliary truck.

The Ranger 16 maiden project will be at Rio Tinto Paraburdoo mine site from 6th March 2018. To find out more information, check out our Equipment page for a full listing of rigs.
